Difficult choices must be made during difficult times. As President of the Christian Food Mission in Laurel, I want to give you an update on the ministry, to inform you about what God has done. Many of you are familiar with the Christian Food Mission from our 16 year history , but you may not know about our growth. With the help of volunteers like you, in recent years the Mission has expanded. We are now delivering more than 250 plates each day to financially and/or physically needy people in Jones County and Wayne County. The delivered cost of each of these 65,000 annual meals is a little over $2.00. That's food, preparation, and transportation! Thanks to your gifts of time, food, and funds I am very confident this is a highly efficient operation. The Food Mission additionally operates a large pantry, in conjunction with 61 area Churches. This pantry provides groceries to referred needy families. As always, we continually seek to provide spiritual food, through evangelism and teaching on each visit. I am very glad for the kingdom work we continue each day, and I would be saddened to make the difficult announcement that we had been forced to cut back, or discontinue all of our distribution. I ask that you PRAY for the Christian Food Mission. Lift up this effort in your prayer, and let GOD speak to his people. Please encourage your church to include us in their benevolence budget. Speak to your church leaders today. Consider becoming a volunteer. Ask your Christian friends to volunteer with you. We do have current needs...collecting food donations, cooking in our kitchen, and delivering meals. The Christian Food Mission aspires to strengthen our work...our witness for Christ...to the county. Surely, you have seen a benefit to our community. Take action now. Your contribution (added to those of our regular givers) will assure food recipients...a tomorrow touched by CHRIST !
